Peterborough Parkway Place and Jackson Creek Wedding – Meghan & David

What was a perfect fall day for a wedding?  Oct 21st was.  Meghan and David picked just the right day to have perfect fall weather.

My wedding photography coverage for Meghan and David was my most common duration of approx 8 hours.  This gave me time to join both the girls and the guys while the got ready, right up to when the dancing got rock’n around 9pm. The great thing about spending time with both the ladies and the gents while they get ready is it gives me a chance to get to meet everyone before the wedding ceremony.  I find it helps to break-the-ice. And come the reception/dance I was once again working with the great husband and wife team of Terry & Gerry of Homemade Jam DJ services.

For this wedding we were back and forth between The Parkway Place on Landsdowne (which was beautifully decorated) and Jackson Creek Park (a great location for fall colours).  Even though we had to do a bit of driving between locations, the great thing about Peterborough versus a major city is traffic is never so bad that it jeopardizes the timeline.

To summarize, my time at Meghan and David’s wedding was a real pleasure.  Everyone was kind and excited for this great couple.  Working with their wedding party at Jackson Creek Park was a blast, the speeches were heartfelt and enjoyable to listen to, Meghan and Davids well rehearsed first dance was a joy to photograph and the music, dancing and Photo Booth were all a hit.  A big congrats to Meghan and David on having what I hope was a perfect wedding.

Lisa and Spencer’s Wedding at the Peterborough Golf Club

This past October, later in the month, was the very fun and beautifully done wedding of Lisa and Spencer.  A day that list some late October days … had a great fall feel with impressive colours on the trees …. and the potential of snow.  On this day it turned out to be one of the coldest of the month.  That was unfortunate as their plans for an outside ceremony changed to an inside one (which Peterborough Golf Course easily accommodated).  Even though the ceremony took place indoors, the back wall with the windows overlooking the golf course made for a great backup location.

Their day started out like many wedding days, the guys getting ready at one location while the girls got ready at another.  I started my day at Lisa and Spencer’s home where the guys were having a great time getting themselves and a couple of the young boys ready.  Then it was off to Lisa’s parents home to capture the girls while they completed their the final prep.

It was at Peterborough Golf and Country Club that most of their wedding day took place.  A local, very convenient location for them to hold their wedding ceremony, family and wedding party pictures and then the reception (which entailed dinner, speeches, surprise video slideshow, my photo booth, great dancing and impressive fireworks).  I have shot weddings before at the Peterborough Golf Club before but this one certainly stands out for me.

To sum up … it was a wedding day that was perfectly executed and certainly a ton of fun.  The dining hall was beautifully decorated, the speeches were genuine and heartfelt, the meal was excellent, the music pumping, my photo booth was a big hit and the firework show they treated their guests too … WOW … very impressive.

Peterborough Golf and Country Club Wedding – Dwan & Rob

At the end of summer on a day when the weather was perfect … the wedding of Peterborough locals Dwan & Rob took me to the beautiful and well known Peterborough Golf and Country Club. Many are not aware that the Peterborough Golf and Country Club has founded over 100 years ago in 1897! Here is a snippet from their website:

The first Clubhouse, opened in 1900, sat at the crown of Auburn Hill, overseeing three fairways. The Beechwood farmhouse, now the site of the PGCC curling rink, operated from the 1930s’ to 1959 when the current Clubhouse was opened. Since 1959, the PGCC has been an all season operation, anchored on golf and curling, and the Clubhouse has been improved and enlarged over the years.

As you can see from the small sample of images I am sharing on my blog, Dwan and Rob had both their wedding ceremony and reception on site. Just a short walk from the clubhouse is a quiet little corner with a gazebo that serves as a fantastic location for an intimate outdoor ceremony. After their ceremony it was off to the golf course for some quick wedding party and bride and groom photos. Since Rob and his buddies are golfers, I naturally had to create an image of Rob taking time out on his wedding day to hammer a few balls, all while Dwan wasn’t looking all that impressed. LOL

A huge thank you to Dwan and Rob for selecting me to be their wedding photographer. It was a ton of fun shooting both their friends wedding last year (Alison & Chad) and seeing everyone again at this wedding. I hope to get to shoot more of their friends and families weddings in the future.
