A Baxter Creek Golf Course Wedding

Recently I was (yet again) at the great Baxter Creek Golf Course in Fraserville.  Just a short drive south east of Peterborough on Hwy 28 heading toward the Bewdley area.  Baxter Creek is a great location for weddings.  They have very kind and accommodating staff, a beautiful open space behind the club house for wedding ceremonies, a large covered deck, separate dining and bar areas for cocktail hour and dinner and of course many great spots to take photos.

This wedding started with me joining Mitchell and the guys at his parents home.  After the getting ready pics of the guys I went straight to Natasha’s parents place for the same reason.  Both homes were like bee hives with everyone running around and getting ready of their families big important day.

After the getting ready pics were done at both homes, it was off to Baxter Creek.  The weather was a perfect spring day, so the ceremony took place behind the club house, followed by some quick family photos and then onto the golf course for the wedding party pics.

After the wedding party pics wrapped up it was back to the club house for an approx 6pm meal.  As usual, Baxter Creeks event planner (Carolyn Westington) was on hand making sure everything was running like a well oiled machine.  I’ve worked many weddings with Carolyn and it’s always great to see her and take a minute to chat.

Natasha and Mitchell’s reception and dance was great.  Some quick but heartfelt speeches followed dinner then it was straight into the dance where their wedding guests could easily float between the dance or hanging out on the back deck to enjoy a perfect spring evening.

A big thank you to Natasha and Mitchell for selecting me to be their wedding photographer.  I had a great time and I’m sure you’re going to cherish the images for many years.

Peterborough Parkway Place and Jackson Creek Wedding – Meghan & David

What was a perfect fall day for a wedding?  Oct 21st was.  Meghan and David picked just the right day to have perfect fall weather.

My wedding photography coverage for Meghan and David was my most common duration of approx 8 hours.  This gave me time to join both the girls and the guys while the got ready, right up to when the dancing got rock’n around 9pm. The great thing about spending time with both the ladies and the gents while they get ready is it gives me a chance to get to meet everyone before the wedding ceremony.  I find it helps to break-the-ice. And come the reception/dance I was once again working with the great husband and wife team of Terry & Gerry of Homemade Jam DJ services.

For this wedding we were back and forth between The Parkway Place on Landsdowne (which was beautifully decorated) and Jackson Creek Park (a great location for fall colours).  Even though we had to do a bit of driving between locations, the great thing about Peterborough versus a major city is traffic is never so bad that it jeopardizes the timeline.

To summarize, my time at Meghan and David’s wedding was a real pleasure.  Everyone was kind and excited for this great couple.  Working with their wedding party at Jackson Creek Park was a blast, the speeches were heartfelt and enjoyable to listen to, Meghan and Davids well rehearsed first dance was a joy to photograph and the music, dancing and Photo Booth were all a hit.  A big congrats to Meghan and David on having what I hope was a perfect wedding.

Burleigh Inn Wedding – Katie & Kenneth

In September I had the pleasure of photographing Katie & Kenneth’s wedding that spanned the towns of Lakefield, Young’s Point and Burleigh Falls.

My day started at Lakefield’s popular Sunshrine Spa (owned and operated by Tammy Blair) for some time with Katie and her ladies as they prepared for a busy day.  From Sunshrine I went straight to the Burleigh Falls Inn (managed by the very accommodating Jennifer Craig) to spend a bit of time capturing great images of the guys as they helped each other with the proper dressing of their kilts.  Once the guys were finished I walked to another spot at Burleigh Falls Inn to photograph the last part of the ladies getting ready. When it was time, everyone left for Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Young’s Point.

It was a beautiful ceremony (conducted by Father Keith Wallace) that began with some cute signs carried down the aisle by even cuter children (see pics below). When the ceremony was done it was off to perform the usual schedule of family formals, wedding party pics and finally Katie & Kenneth photo time.  All photos and the reception took just a short drive back up the highway to Burleigh Falls Inn.  Naturally being in Burleigh Falls, Katie, Kenneth and I did a quick trip to the popular rapids area and captured some stunning images.

Burleigh Falls Inn served a great meal, the speeches were heart-felt and the DJ (Mike Gardner of MacMillan Entertainment) did a great job keeping the dance floor hoping.  It was a great wedding and I believe the small group of photos I selected illustrated this well.  Enjoy and thanks for visiting!
