Wedding Trends Magazine – winter wedding feature

Woodhouse Photography is pleased to share an article featured in the recently released Peterborough Wedding Trends magazine.  Past clients, Julia & Kevin of Peterborough were featured on pages 16 and 17 of the Winter 2015 edition. Their indoor wedding took place at a friends home that had the perfect setup for a small and intimate indoor wedding.  Here is a scan of their article along with a few images from their indoor winter wedding.

Buckhorn Wedding with reception at Lakehurst Hall – Jessica & Shawn

Early fall 2014 I was very fortunate to have a wedding that was close to home. Jessica and Shawn had a lakeside wedding planned at their parents home on Buckhorn Lake. Unfortunately the weather was quite poor for most of the day, so the small lakeside ceremony ended up taking place in their parents home (which were very patient and accommodating throughout the entire process). The weather gave some excellent clouds for the images, however the heavy winds (and for a brief time the rain) resulted in us running in and out of the home several times to get the great images we nailed both by the water and in the wood adjacent to the home. You can see in one of the images below that Shawn was anxiously viewing the weather forecast and cloud movement to see if the ceremony could take place outside or if we all needed to retreat inside. Retreating inside for the ceremony was easily done since the local business Swanky Events was hired for the decorating. Sue quickly re-arranged the outside decorations to support the indoor location which helped ensure the last minute change of venue went smoothly.

With having a beautiful Buckhorn Lake view, we made sure to include some of the wedding party images and of course bride and groom images at the lake. You can see from the images below that their wedding party was a fantastic group. The ladies had smiles on their faces all day and had matching robs early on. The fellows were a ton of fun.

After the ceremony and family formals, Jessica, Shawn and I headed to a location I like to use on the north side of town at the southern tip of the Kawartha Highlands park. After we wrapped up a few more bride and groom pic’s at the southern end of the Mississauga river, it was off to Lakehurst Hall just a short drive west of Buckhorn. This hall is a great venue for a dinner of no more than 100 guests. There is lots of parking and the hardwood floors and high ceilings give a very warm and welcoming feel.

As usual, I’ve shared here just a few of my favorites from the day. A big thank you to Jessica and Shawn for trusting me with their wedding photography!

Northumberland Heights Wedding but first the Millbrook Engagement Shoot of Alison and Chad

In the fall of 2015 Alison and Chad will tie-the-knot at Northumberland Heights, a beautiful retreat located just outside of Cobourg, Ontario. But before then, we had a chance this fall to complete a great engagement shoot in the town of Millbrook.

I have shot couples and family photography in Millbrook before and it is a great location if my clients live south of Peterborough because it usually isn’t to far for them to drive. Millbrook offers the popular Millbrook Conservation Area which is a great spot for taking long walks on well groomed trails. Also, Millbrook is a small quiet town with some great architecture to explore. I had a great time spending an hour and a half with Alison and Chad and exploring the area and getting to know them better. I’m really looking forward to their fall 2015 wedding as it sounds like it is going to be fun, casual day for them and their guests.

Below are a few from our time together.
