Deerhurst Resort & Grandview Golf Club Wedding – Robyn & Ryan in Huntsville

Excellent.  That is my first response when asked about the recent wedding of Robyn and Ryan.   It all began where they prepared for the day at the beautiful Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville which led to their intimate ceremony and tremendous reception which both took place at the impressive Grandview Golf ClubTo go along with it, there was an amazing meal and a great kid-friendly atmosphere.   Truly an excellent day.  I believe the images summarize the fun everyone had at their wedding.

It was a good thing that the location was so beautiful because the weather on their wedding day was hit-and-miss. One minute it would rain, the next the sun would peak out and then the next it would rain again. Regardless, what helped to contribute to their excellent images was that Robyn and Ryan didn’t care about the rain and were quite happy to do what was needed to get beautiful shots. As you can see, even though there were umbrellas in the odd image, it did not take away from the fun and intimacy they shared on their wedding day. In fact, just before I wrapped up my day, you can see from the last couple of images that our little shoot outside under the trees in the dark resulted in some unique images thanks to the rain! Lighting Robyn and Ryan from the back really highlighted the raindrops in a stunning way!

From the beautiful room at Deerhurst Resort where Robyn got ready, the fantastic venue of Grandview Golf Club for both ceremony and reception, their great meal, a great candy bar, a very kid friendly atmosphere and rock’n music courtesy of Blake (By Request Entertainment), this really was a great Muskoka wedding!

A big thanks to Robyn and Ryan for selecting Woodhouse Photography to be their private professional photography service for their big day.

Bobcaygeon Wedding at Lakeview Arts Barn – Jodie & Santai of Kenya

Early this spring I spent the day at Lakeview Arts Barn in Bobcaygeon shooting the beautiful wedding of Jodie and Santai of Kenya. Jodie and Santai met at school and Jodie ended up leaving our Kawartha region for exciting new life experiences in Kenya. In February they held a traditional Kenyan wedding that included their daughter, Santai’s family and Jodie’s parents who were able to fly over to enjoy the day. This spring, Jodie, Santai and their daughter flew back to Ontario and had another wedding where they could also celebrate with Jodie’s local family and friends.

Lakeview Arts Barn (LAB) is a great rural location to hold a wedding. Jodie and Santai did a fantastic job of making the really large space look great with the placement of their tables and fun decorating. Walls were lined with photos of their Kenyan wedding, two tables were set up for guests to leave their best wishes, an excellent buffet was laid out and a dedicated dance floor made great use of the space LAB offers.

I’d like to thank Jodie and Santai for selecting Woodhouse Photography to be their personal professional wedding photography service. You two and your beautiful little girl were fantastic to spend the day with. I wish you all the best!

Bancroft Winter Wedding – Laura & Shawn – Cedar Ridge Camp

This past February 1st was like most days this winter.  Snowfall … and lots of it!  But what made this day different for Laura & Shawn of Whitby was they had their unique winter wedding planned and it was taking place a little east of Bancroft.  Laura and Shawn booked the 150 acre Cedar Ridge Camp for the entire weekend so their family and friends could have a get-away weekend at this beautiful Kawartha camp.  This was my first time to Cedar Ridge Camp and it is a beautiful Kawartha retreat.  Regardless of the time of year, this remote location is very picturesque.

My day started just after lunch at the Best Western in Bancroft. This was where Laura was getting ready.  Approx 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony I left for Cedar Ridge Camp so that I could arrive before Laura and her family.  When I arrived their guests were inside the main lodge and excited about what was to start because this wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place outside and on the frozen lake!  With a path cleared through the deep snow that went from the backdoor of the lodge to a cleared place on the lake, it was clear that even with the heavy snowfall this outdoor ‘on the lake’ wedding was going to move forward.  When it was time for the ceremony to start, guests headed out onto the lake, brushed the snow off their chairs, sat down and watched the main event.  When we were out on the lake this past Saturday February 1st, when it was snowing so heavily, it was a little surreal as it was dead silent out on the ice.  The atmosphere of this ceremony was quite unique.  In this beautiful venue, at this time of year, it really felt like we were the only people in the world for a brief few minutes.

After the ceremony Laura and Shawn wanted to include their love of hockey in their wedding day.  So with nets setup, and their guests standing at the side-lines, a brief but violent game took place.  The intensity and passion for the game of hockey was evident as they hadn’t been married 30 minutes and they were ready to draw blood!   All kidding aside, it was a fun element to add to their wedding day.

As night fell, we headed inside to get warmed up and then the staff of Cedar Ridge Camp promptly served a fantastic meal.  Their guests sat at a single long table that was positioned in front of the wood burning fireplace.  It was a lovely, private family affair.

I’d like to thank Laura and Shawn for selecting me to be their private wedding photographer for the day.  Here are just a few of my person selections from their wedding photography collection.
