Thank you for taking the time to visit my website! This website is my online presence for my constantly maturing Wedding portfolio. If interested … my personal work is separate @ adamwoodhouse.info.
I am Adam Woodhouse, a professional Wedding Photographer that lives a short drive north of Peterborough in the beautiful Kawartha region of Ontario. That kind of labels me as a Peterborough Photographer or Kawartha Photographer which I’m quite happy to be labelled as since the area I live and photograph in is truly beautiful. For those that are not from the area, Peterborough and the Kawarthas are a little over one hour northeast of Toronto, Ontario. The Kawarthas are seen primarily as a cottage, family vacation destination. Because of all the beautiful locations the Kawartha Region offers, my wedding photography typically keeps me in the Kawartha Region since so many people come to the Kawarthas for their wedding. The wide diversity of all inclusive resorts and personal cottages make the Peterborough County and the Kawartha Region a prime wedding venue spring, summer, fall and winter.
A bit about myself: I have a B.Sc degree from Trent University and have worked professionally in the Information Technology field for most of my career (outside of the 4 years I taught Mathematics & Digital Imaging at Fleming College). Before my photography matured to the business it is today, it started as it does for most, a hobby. Many many years ago during my time at Peterborough’s Trent University I shot images of the campus and submitted them to the annual yearbook photo competition. To my surprise my two submissions won both first and second place and were used as the cover art and introductory page of the yearbook. It was at that time I began to think more seriously about photography and how important it is. What I enjoyed just as much as getting the recognition in the contest was that I shared my images with others …. they weren’t just going to sit in a photo album. Even with that rewarding experience I found over the years that most of my photography was un-fulfilling because I wasn’t sharing it with others or doing it with a defined purpose. It was then that I decided to start my wedding photography business and take my work to the next level. It felt very natural for me to start my wedding photography business. Now I could have a defined purpose for my photography work and an important reason to be sharing it with others. As an added bonus of doing wedding photography, I would be spending time with families during a very exciting time of their lives … so why wouldn’t I want to be a part of that!? During my clients wedding day their family and friends are not only excited, they dress their very best and welcome photography into their lives.
What else do I do? When I’m not working with my wedding clients my weekdays are taken up with my career at Fleming College. I enjoy casual and competitive catch-and-release fishing tournaments and of course spending time with my family. Because I live just outside the beautiful hamlet of Buckhorn and am fortunate to live on the lake, I like to spend my free time on the water either fishing or capturing photographs of the wildlife.
Me with Joe Bussink at his seminar in Toronto where he teamed up with Yervant. Joe is a Hollywood celebrity wedding photographer that is very well known in the industry.
I attended a private Oakville workshop where California's Chris Becker came to Ontario for a couple of days. It was an excellent seminar focusing on nothing more than delivering a great experience to wedding clients.
